ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a substantial part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves careful placement of very fine needles into specific points across meridians to influence and regulate an individuals life force, known as Qi.

The ancient Chinese believed that Qi, flows from the body’s primary organs out into the superficial body tissues such as skin, muscles, tendons, bones and joints. The quality and quantity of an individuals Qi can have significant effect over their health. Most often Qi becomes blocked (stagnated), hyperactive, hypoactive and/ or deficient leading to ill-health and eventually disease.

The primary focus of acupuncture therapy is to improve the the regulation of an individuals Qi, and help restore harmony of their mind and body. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years for multiple conditions effecting the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular , endocrine, immune and nervous system.

There are a total of 350 acupuncture points found throughout the body, each having their own unique influence over an individuals state of health and well being. An acupuncturist is comprehensively trained in the individual actions and indications of these points with an in depth understanding of the patho-physiology and treatment of disease to help restore health and vitality for their patient.

Acupuncture, like all forms of natural medicine is a dose dependent treatment. Every patient is unqiue and responds differently to treatments. Patients should feel an immedient sense of relief or change from their main complaint that will last for several days after treatment.

Based on thousands of hours of clinical experience Dr Nicholas Beasley (Acu, DAOM) recommends a minimum of 12 treatments with acupuncture for long term significant results. In the inital few treatments, the shorter the duration between sessions (every 4-5 days) the greater the healing response.

Monthly maintenance treatments are essential for reevaluating and preventing any chance of disease remission. Sessions respond well with adjunctive treatments such as osteopathy, physiotherapy and remedial.
